Jim is the kind of guy anybody would love as a
neighbor or beg for as a fly fishing guide. He is
friendly, easygoing, and will truly go the extra mile to
make sure his clients have a memorable day.
A professional fly-tyer as well as a top notch guide,
Jim can regularly be found giving fly-tying
demonstrations at local events. Spend a day with
Jim and you are sure to gain an insight into creative
local patterns as well as how to fish them.
Jim spends hundreds of hours each year fishing and
guiding our local waters. At home on the South
Platte River as well as lots of small creeks, Jim can
show anybody a day they will remember for years to
come.
Jim has been fly-fishing for 27 years making him a
wealth of knowledge about the sport.
Jim has probably forgotten more things about fly
fishing than most people ever learn!
Rods: Jim fishes with Sage fly rods, although he
loves the XP series. He recommends the VT2 as a
good all-around rod for people getting started
Reels: The local favorite Ross is Jim's reel of choice
with the Evolution series being his favorite.
Lines: The Rio Nymph line with the high float
technology and colored tip is the winner.
Waders: Simms is the standout.
Glasses: Having quality polarized glasses is a
must. Smith/Action Optics is what Jim wears.
