the South Platte River, just outside the town of Bailey, Colorado.
This 2.5 mile stretch of the South Platte River offers anglers lots of
fly fishing options. In the upper section of the ranch, the river
meanders through hay meadows. This offers dry fly anglers quite a
thrill, especially during green drake and hopper season. As the
river continues through the ranch, anglers can find lots of great
riffles and runs and some great holing water that has produced fish
up to 24 inches, with 10-20 inch fish being the norm. Anglers that
like to fish pockets with dry-dropper rigs are often rewarded with
great action. The streamer fishing is unmatched on the right day,
and a variety of caddis, mayfly, and stonefly hatches keep dry fly
enthusiasts coming back for more.
