Spring fly fishing
This day started out crisp and clear with prime conditions for catching some
beautiful trout for David and Brandon, who are both new to fly fishing.  Due to
the cold water temps we decided to nymph fish, and they both picked up the
technique very fast.  It was not very long before the first couple fish of the day
were in the net and the "skunk" was off.  Both Brandon and David did an
excellent job of landing these bigger fish, especially for their first time.

As the day was drawing to a close, we decided to practice casting a dry fly.
After a quick casting lesson we decided to put to use the newly learned skills.
After a few looks from some beautiful trout, a nice fish came up and ate the
fly with purpose.  It was a great way to finish this introduction to western fly
fishing.

The fishing has been exceptional so far this season.  The trout have come
through the winter nicely and have been eager to fatten up before the spring
spawn.  We have had some luck with dry flies.  There have been some good
midge hatches, BWO's (especially on cloudy days), and the first of the very
small spring stoneflys.  Nymph fishing has still been the most productive
technique day in and day out.

Please be careful wading, as rainbows and cutthroats and preparing to
spawn. It is best not to wade near or into their spawning beds.

Testimonial:
Wow, my son Brandon and I had a great time fishing with you last week on
the Platte River !!  You picked a great location, with outstanding water and
scenery -- and your expertise and passion for the sport was very apparent.
We were extremely pleased with the quality and quantity of the fish we
caught.  While it was our first fly fishing experience, the fish we caught were
much larger than most I see in magazines and a friend of mine who used to
be a fly fishing guide in Colorado was shocked at the size of the fish.  I will
definitely recommend you to any friends that want a great Colorado fly fishing
experience and will be back in touch when we return to Colorado .  Thanks
for the memories!!
