Fly Fishing Update: With the mercury rising along with the rivers, June is a great time to spend some time exploring Colorado's high mountain lakes. We primarily fish 2 large private ranches that have a variety of exceptional lake fishing opportunities.
These photos are from a series of trips from Memorial Day weekend to present. The lakes are in prime condition and all the trips to the high lakes have been very productive and tons of fun. Now is the best time to take advantage of lake fishing, as it should be great for the next few weeks!
We have successfully hooked many fish using a variety of techniques, including some nice fish on DRY FLIES! Many anglers only think of streams as an ideal locale for fly fishing, but lakes offer a fun diversion and anglers can hone a whole different set of skills!
Even with high waters reported around the state, we still have some exceptional river - stream fishing and several areas that currently have ideal stream flows for trout fishing. The fish in these areas have been cooperative. Look for the rivers to remain high for a few days, especially when the weather temperature is up. Flows should be decreasing to normal levels by late June as the snow pack recedes.
Testimonial's from anglers on our recent lake trips: I want to thank you for the best day of trout fishing that I've ever had. You went the extra mile and made certain that I had a memorable trip. I will be back in August for a trip to the South Platte. -A. Pettit
Thanks again for another amazing day fishing. Between the South Platte last week and the mountain lakes today I couldn't have asked for a better experience. I’ll be sure to look you up the next time I’m out in the Denver area. -K. Skirby
